3 things to know about healing your gut

Your gut is home to trillions of bacteria that are essential for digestion. If you have any gastrointestinal issues, there are 3 things to help heal your gut - eating well, avoiding irritants, and eating healthy foods with natural probiotics.

You know when your gut is in trouble. Rumbling noises, gas, bloat, and pain. There are three contributing factors to any digestive issue.

What you're eating.

It all begins with your diet. Your digestive health is dependent on what you put into your body. That means, when you fuel up with irritants like caffeine or processed foods, your gut gets stressed out and will respond by causing pain or discomfort.

Your stress levels.

Stress also plays a role in digestive troubles. It can cause you to eat foods that are irritating to your body, leading to discomfort.

Take care of your gut.

Your gut is the place where digestion and immunity take place. It also plays a role in how well your body deals with stress and food, so it's essential to keep it healthy.

When I learned and understood the issues associated with my gut, I made the decision to change things. I researched and looked up recipes for a juice cleanse because I wanted to know the benefits of a juice cleanse. I wanted to know is juicing healthy?  Once I started juice therapy, I immediately started feeling energetic, healthy, and motivated.

Here are some tips you can use to improve it:

Eat well

When you're not eating a healthy diet for your gut, it can cause discomfort and affect your digestion. It's important to focus on these nutrients:

-       Fiber, which comes from whole grains, vegetables, legumes, nuts, and seeds.

-       Prebiotics help feed the good bacteria in your gut and come from whole grains and certain fruits and vegetables like artichokes, bananas, onions, garlic, and asparagus.

Avoid irritants

If you're experiencing discomfort, you might want to consider eliminating foods and beverages from your diet to discover what is contributing to the problem.

-       Caffeine and alcohol are highly acidic and will irritate the lining of your stomach and small intestine.

-       Spicy foods are very common offenders.

Take care of your gut

You want to fix the problem, not mask it. Some issues that originate in your gut can affect how you feel mentally and physically. Try some of these remedies for relief:

-       Rest.

-       Avoid eating too much or too fast, which can put excess pressure on your stomach.

-       Don't eat foods that you know will upset your gut, even if they are healthy otherwise.

-       Drink ginger tea to soothe an upset stomach.

-       Fermenting your favorite vegetables like green beans or cauliflower will give you natural and plant based probiotics to restore your gut's balance.

Healing your gut begins with eating well. Eating well means focusing on these nutrients: fiber from whole grains and vegetables; prebiotics found in whole grain foods like artichokes and bananas; and healthy healing natural probiotics which support your immune system.
